See the Benefits home page for more information. Position SummaryThe Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of New Mexico invites applications for the position of Postdoctoral Fellow. We are seeking a research focused, experienced individual with excellent analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills. The successful candidate is expected to conduct research in computational fluid dynamics investigations of shock-accelerated and supersonic single- and multi- phase mixing flows. This includes researching transcritical injection into crossflow, performing statistical analysis of the results, conducting convergence studies, developing reduced-order physics-based models to improve computational efficiency, validating the code performance by comparison with experimental data, maintaining the results database and ensuring its compatibility with the frameworks developed by UNM's collaborators at Sandia National Laboratories and University of Alabama - Huntsville. The successful candidate should be able to start work immediately. Applicants must hold an earned doctorate in mechanical engineering or a closely related field by the start date of the employment. Candidates should have: a record of peer-reviewed publications in the relevant area of expertise (CFD, multiphase flow); experience with CFD codes including FIESTA, OpenFOAM, and Nek 5000; strong analytical, problem-solving, documentation, organizational, and interpersonal skills; and a demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success as well as working with broadly diverse communities. The successful candidate must be either a U.S. citizen or permanent resident by the start date of employment.
